We believe the Bible is God's true word. We believe that God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one = the Trinity. We believe John 3:16. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not parish but have everlasting life. So what does that mean??? Before there was man there was God, everything that we know came after He created it. Unfortunately this also means we believe in Satan or Lucifer. Who was once an angel, a very smart, attractive angel who at some point decided He should be God and as a result got kicked out of heaven and now roams the Earth and will eventually be condemned to Hell forever. Adam and Eve were God's first human creations and they walked and talked with God and lived in perfection until Eve was tempted by Satan to eat from a tree that God had forbidden her to eat from and then she (easily) talked Adam into doing the same (men are easy). From that point on sin (disobedience to God) was introduced to humanity. There had to be a large consequence to that sin or why would it matter, right? So God decided that pure innocent blood needed to be shed to pay for that sin. For centuries people would choose the most pure blemish-free animal to take to an altar to a priest to make a sacrifice for their sin. Until God decided to come to Earth in the form of man ~Jesus~ and though He was pure and innocent and sinless, He died on a cross and shed His blood to become our sacrifice, once and for all. He had the power to choose otherwise, but He loved us much too deeply. The coolest part is, three days later He rose from the grave. He is God, He is not dead, death could not conquer Him. He told us that He was going to be with the Father but would leave us a special gift, another part of Himself, the Holy Spirit. He also told us all we had to do was believe His words, believe He was God and He was our sacrifice that bought our ticket to heaven. And then we too could have the Holy Spirit and a spot in heaven when our earthly time is up. When Jesus left He gave us a job...to make Jesus famous, so others could enjoy all that comes along with being a part of His family and avoid the alternative which is Hell; separation from God forever.
I wish I could explain each part of this story in more detail and would love to if anyone should have questions, but I type this with a baby on my lap digging in the drawer in front of me and a four year old torturing two dogs on the floor beside me. So to avoid causing more confusion I will stop here .
I will only add this last thought. Being a Christian does not mean I woke up one day and declared myself a perfect human. On the contrary, I am soooo imperfect that I desperately need this savior. Being a Christian certainly does not mean I am perfect, it just means I KNOW the ONE who is!
