happy weekend

If you know me at all, you know I couldn't care less about college teams.  Not that there is anything wrong with caring about them, I just don't have much interest.  I have tried really hard to conjure up some kind of preference...and there just isn't any.  But I do like to watch football and I do enjoy going to a game every now and then.  This weekend Lucas and I went to the Carolina VS. Duke game with Matt and Brook.  Lucas and Matt are Carolina fans. Brook is a Duke fan.  Presley is a Duke fan and insisted I would be too.  I needed a Duke tee shirt to wear and luckily my favorite sister-in-law is the worlds most faithful Duke fan and had a plethora of shirts for me to choose from.  So I put on my cute Duke tee shirt and sat beside a large old man in a Carolina blue vest.  Of course we were a tiny bit late so when I parked myself beside him, he kindly snarled his nose and told me he would rather sit beside a cute Duke fan than a ugly Carolina fan.  I accepted this peace treaty and we quickly became old pals. He gave me a brief play by play of the beginning of the game and I pretended to be very interested.  I mean if you wear the shirt you have to play the part, right?   Anyway, we had a great time and because we had no children...we acted like children.

Seven years ago we got the best prelit Christmas tree ever.  It was big and pretty and you didn't have to string lights on it!  But after seven years of stuffing it through the little attic hole, it became tired.  Too tired to shine all of its lights.  So it retired this year and we got our very first real tree.  It was fun picking it out with the girls and it smells like my childhood Christmas'.  That makes me happy.  We are quite pleased with it.

have you read these books?
if you haven't, you should

I have never ever been a vampire fan.  I always hated vampire movies growing up.  On top of that I don't really enjoy "romance novels".  I don't believe vampires are real any more than I believe Micky Mouse is real.  That being said, I love, love, love, love, love these books.  Its such an atypical vampire story with an intertwined passionate love story.  My most favorite secular series ever.  The movies do a decent job of telling the story but you miss out on so many details that you get by reading books. And of course Edward's character in the book simply cant be done justice in the movies.  Though they came very close with Jacob's character. The books are written for young adults; very well written but minus the vulgarity of a lot of  other popular vampire tales.  As for the movies, they certainly are not appropriate for children.

Because if 30 year old women act this way...

...you can only imagine how a little girls mind would be warped!

 obviously we are team Edward

Enjoyed our girls night out and cant wait for part 2 to come out...NEXT NOVEMBER.
That's just cruel.

Congratulations to Brandon and Sarah!! We finally got to meet Baby Carter McCormick Land!!
He is beautiful
look at those eyes, love it
I only got to hold him for a few seconds, Miley wasn't having it.
Lucas wanted to bring him home with us.
So happy for them.

AND

Presley got her super cool soccer trophy.  Its even cooler when your coach owns the YoZone and you get free ice cream to go with your trophy.  She did an awesome job this season.  Very proud of her!

crazy Target lady

I recieved a disturbing text from my sister tonight

by "have you seen yourself on the Target commercial yet"?  she means this lady...

Minnde thinks that if for any reason I happen to be MIA, you can probably find me in the local Target.  May be true. She says I remind her of this crazy lady. Last year she was full of crazy Target lady jokes.  The sad part is I was asked at least 2 dozen times by strangers, "hey have you seen the crazy Target lady commercials? you remind me of her".  Once while at triage a random person in the waiting room asked me this and the techs started giggling saying "I told you!"  Then the off duty police officer who will remain unnamed joins in,  "haha you do remind me of her", then proceeded to pull her up on YouTube and show me the commercials. Well she is back for the Holidays.  So let the jokes begin...

I don't see it!

But they are HILARIOUS!!

Oh, praise Him

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
Oh, praise Him
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in heav’n along
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Thou rising moon in praise rejoice
Ye lights of evening find a voice
Oh, praise Him
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

Let all things their creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Praise, praise the Father praise the Son
And praise the Spirit three in one
Oh, praise Him
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

Praise, praise the Father praise the Son
And praise the Spirit three in one
Oh, praise Him
Oh, praise Him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

There are a lot of sources of stress.  Some I have control over, some I don't.  Reminded today to hand those things over to the One who is in control.  And to praise Him through the fog, because the sun will come out again. Thankful for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.  Reminded that wisdom is a gift and not personal accomplishment. Thankful for a husband who loves God and loves me.  Thankful for my sweet babies.  Praying for a special group of people; that ultimately justice and good will prevail.  I saw Presley's feelings get hurt today.  She is a tough cookie so when that happens its hard to watch. Happy to be the one she runs to for comfort until she learns to lean on her Creator for that security. Miley started saying "cookie" today, so so so cute. Even cuter: after bath time she turns on her frog that shines stars onto the ceiling and turns on her fan and is ready to get in her crib! Third largest miracle, right behind parting the Red Sea and the Resurrection. And to the 3 people who read this blog...thank you for listening to my ramblings tonight.

squishy squashies

Once upon a time in a land far far away, a war was waging against the squishy squashies...

Lucas' army

Presley's army

The Beast is in charge of Presley's army
Lotso is in charge of Lucas' army

As I type, most of Presley's army has converted to Lucas' side.  And as a last resort Belle from B&B is asking Lotso out on a date to McDonalds.  He accepted the invitation...

Happy Halloween

Oh how I love thee...
*pumpkins
*jack o lanterns
*spooky trees
*candy
*costumes
*kids running around on sugar highs
*Moose A Moose and that dang "I hate candy corn" song
*pumpkin spice lattes
*dogs in costumes
*adults screaming because Lucas and Bill are following them out of the driveway with masks on
*bus drivers that stop at our house the day after Halloween, not to drop off kids but to tell us the kids on the bus have talked about our house all day
* our neighborhood that reminds me of the scenes in movies of kids running around everywhere in costumes and houses decked out in spooky attire
*glow in the dark necklaces
*orange leaves and crisp night air
*Nana and Granddaddy who faithfully hand out candy every year so we can play
*face paint
*candy apples
*tiny voices saying trick or treat, and remembering to say thank you

One of the most meaningless holidays we celebrate, but soooooooo much fun
